Tabs of previous section not retained

I run Opera-stable 88.0.4412.53 under openSuSE Leap 15.4.

In settings, I have selected:
On startup:
Retain tabs from previous session

But next time, Opera appears without any tab open. All tabs are lost.

Any ideas of a workaround?
