Post by Timothy DanielsPost by Timothy DanielsTime.gov requires a Java plug-in to run the clock.
How does one add the Java plug-in for the version
of Opera which runs on Ubuntu Linux?

and clicked on the icedtea7_plugin link, and the
plugin installed - but only useable by Google Chrome!
How does one get the plug-in (and how to install it)
for Opera or Firefox?

Where does the package manager install the plugin? Opera normally looks
for plugins in /usr/lib/opera/plugins and /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
unless the user changes the 'plugin path' - in my experience most Linux
package managers put plugins in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and any browser
that can use plugins will look there (it's a legacy thing, from the days
of "Netscape 6").
If Opera doesn't automatically find the plugin, try Tools - Preferences
- Advanced - Content - Plug-in Options - Find New. (You're looking for
a file called "IcedTeaPLugin.so").
(I do hope you aren't still using a version of Opera so old that it
can't use the Java plugin ...)
