Is there any way to disable new version checking?
I go to
opera:config -> User Prefs -> Check For New Opera
I set this value to 0 but it has no effect.

I use two different Opera versions under Linux.
One is 10.11, the other is 10.63 (if I remember).
Both are affected.

(I use these versions because newers have significant drawbacks.
And I don't want Opera to annoy me with upgrade popups.)

Same here. Extremely annoying.

I finally broke down and upgraded 10.6x -> 11.01 when it came,
but I spent many weeks clicking away the upgrade dialogue daily.

(I can add that 11.01 feels like an improvement, even if some new
annoying bugs appeared. And the upgrade was painless, for once!)

You could try Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Security > Auto-update an=
d =

select the 1st option.

Really? I thought it was the same thing as the opera:config setting.
BTW, it was this latter one that didn't work for me.

Since I followed the suggested method I don't receive annoying messages.
